Why Plains Air

Built for patients, not passengers

Safety first, always

FAA Part 135 certified with a perfect safety record. Our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards and our pilots are instrument-rated with thousands of hours.

Your schedule, not ours

No layovers. No connecting flights. No TSA lines. We fly on your timeline and adapt when appointments run long or get rescheduled.

Comfort when it counts

Our aircraft are configured for medical patients — extra legroom, reclinable seating, and a companion seat. We make the journey as easy as the destination.

What families are saying

My mother needed weekly treatments in Kansas City. The 5-hour drive was too much for her. Plains Air turned it into a 90-minute flight and she could rest the whole way. Changed everything for our family.

After my cardiac surgery referral to Denver, I thought I'd have to drive 6 hours post-op. Plains Air had me home in under 2 hours, resting comfortably the whole flight. Incredible service.

As a referring physician in rural Kansas, I recommend Plains Air to patients who need care at larger facilities. They handle the logistics so my patients can focus on getting better.

When my husband needed an emergency consultation at KU Med, Plains Air got us there the same afternoon. The pilot even waited for us. You can't put a price on that kind of care.

The insurance coordination alone saved me hours of paperwork. Plains Air handled everything — the flight, the ground transport on both ends, even called my doctor's office to confirm the appointment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does insurance cover medical charter flights?

+

Some insurance plans cover medical air transport. We provide all necessary documentation and work with your provider to determine coverage. We also offer payment plans for out-of-pocket costs.

How quickly can you arrange a flight?

+

For scheduled appointments, we recommend 48-72 hours notice. For urgent medical situations, we can often have a flight ready within a few hours. Call us directly for time-sensitive requests.

Can a family member fly with me?

+

Absolutely. Every booking includes one companion seat at no additional charge. We believe no one should fly to a medical appointment alone. Additional companions can be accommodated based on aircraft capacity.

What type of aircraft do you fly?

+

We operate pressurized, twin-engine aircraft configured for patient comfort. Our fleet includes models with extra-wide doors for wheelchair access and reclinable seating for post-surgical patients.

Do you provide ground transportation?

+

Yes. We coordinate ground transport on both ends — from your home to the airport, and from the destination airport to the medical facility. It's all included in your flight plan.
